Scott Bradley
Based out of John L. Scott’s Vancouver, Washington office, real estate broker Scott Bradley assists buyers across the Southwest Washington and Portland, Oregon area. He has his managing real estate broker license from the state of Washington and is also a licensed broker with the state of Oregon. Scott often helps buyers and sellers across Vancouver, Camas, Washougal, Battle Ground, Ridgefield, and SW Portland.
As a lifelong resident of the Portland/Vancouver area since 1962, Scott is proud to introduce visitors, new and future residents to the area, so they too can begin to write their Pacific Northwest story. One of his most influential childhood memories, was the opportunity to help at his father’s restaurant on Saturday mornings. This early exposure to working with young families and seniors, proved to be prophetic to his future endeavors.
In high school, Scott discovered that writing and engaging others were his calling, so he pursued a technical journalism degree at Oregon State University. After graduation, he returned to Vancouver for careers in the restaurant industry, luxury automobile sales, and as a national trainer/coach in the automobile industry. Although traveling for a living can be exciting, it was also taking its toll, so Scott combined the best components from each career into his real estate business. His practice is now committed to the real estate concerns of downsizing and life transition clients, by helping remove barriers and maximizing their net returns from the sale of their properties.
When not engaged in assisting clients or mentoring new real estate licensees, Scott enjoys hiking, home improvement projects, the culinary arts, and most anything with two or four wheels. He and his wife Juli live in Camas, where they are actively involved in the local community. Their son Liam is 25.
Scott is a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and Washington REALTORS. He advocates for continuing education in his field, earning NAR’s Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation, and the Commitment to Excellence (C2EX) endorsement. He currently serves on the CCAR (Clark County Realtors Association) Board of Directors, is Co-Chair of the CCAR Professional Standards Committee and is a Regional Representative with the Washington Realtors
Vancouver
Vancouver, Washington is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in the state. Established in 1825, the city beat British Columbia’s Vancouver settlement by over 40 years. Located on the Washington and Oregon border along the Columbia River, Vancouver is the state’s fourth largest city. Since it’s establishment, Vancouver has been an important epicenter of Northwest living and commerce. It’s wartime shipyards necessitated affordable housing options for the tremendous influx of workers responsible for the Allied war effort. Many of these new residents stayed after the war, contributing to the rich culture and sustained growth of the area. Today, most of the ship building infrastructure has been replaced by the beautiful, newly-built Vancouver Waterfront. This vibrant community of restaurants, shops, condominiums and apartments mean that Vancouver is open for business and ready for the next chapter of its' colorful history. Don’t miss an opportunity to sip a glass wine, and admire the views of Mt Hood and the Columbia River as you strategize which part of Vancouver to see next. A short hop from the waterfront, you’ll find Ester Short Park and the adjoining Ester Short neighborhood. Named for the founder of Vancouver, the park is the oldest public square in the Pacific Northwest. With over five acres of green space, the area is considered the cultural and commercial center of town. Vancouver is bordered to the south and west by the Columbia River. It’s only natural that the population continued to reach east to take advantage of river front access. Growth in the 70s, especially with the opening of the Glenn Jackson Bridge, created unprecedented demand for affordable housing and community development. Cascade Park, was one of the first major east county developments and redefined Vancouver housing from the 70s through the 90s. Its’ community walkability, numerous neighborhoods of mixed use housing, schools and services continues to make this a popular and sought after location. Camas and Washougal
Experiencing Vancouver should also include a look at the east county communities of Camas and Washougal. Camas, Washington was once known as a sleepy town, known for it’s paper mill. The mill was once owned by Henry Pittock to supply his Oregonian newspaper. It is bordered to the south by the Columbia River and to the east by the community of Washougal. In the late 1970’s, a visionary developer named Tom Shipler imagined Lacamas Shores, a stately development of 253 luxury homes and a world class golf course on the banks of Lacamas Lake. Shipler’s vision eventually inspired other developers and builders as new homes began sprouting up in Camas and on the hills overlooking the Columbia River. Today Camas is now home to some of the areas largest employers, including Hewlet Packard, Wafertech and Fisher Investments. Shipler’s vision of Lacamas Lake blossomed into a destination for boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and swimming. It’s surrounding parks, hiking and biking trails have become the crown jewel of Camas. The Camas School District is rated as one of best in Washington State and contributes to the driving force for continued housing starts and business development. Yet, despite big city aspirations, Camas has embraced its’ small town feel with highly sought after neighborhoods, a lively sense of community and an idyllic downtown. Finally, Washougal, WA is a burgeoning community situated at the west entrance to the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The “Gorge” stretches for over eighty miles as the river winds east through the Cascade Mountains. Famed explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark visited the area in 1806. Their campsite is close to Capt. William Clark Park at Cottonwood Beach on the Columbia River, just one of 19 parks in Washougal that offer hiking, biking, or water sports activities. Don’t miss Washougal’s quaint, easily accessed downtown, with it’s eclectic shops, restaurants and brewpubs. Pendleton Woolen Mills has been part of Washougal’s downtown scene since 1912, where world class woolen blankets and fabrics are still produced. Despite it’s remarkable history and quality of life, Washougal still embraces a small town-community feel. With it’s thriving schools and housing developments boasting some the best views of the Columbia River and Mt Hood anywhere, Washougal should be on your short list of great Vancouver area communities. If you’d like to learn more about Camas and Washougal, let us know! We’d love to show you around and help you find your dream home.
Battle Ground
Battle Ground, WA lies a quick 25-minutes north of Vancouver, WA. It is home to those who enjoy a quiet rural lifestyle with a strong sense of community. Battle Ground was named for an 1855 encounter between a company of volunteers from Fort Vancouver, led by Captain William Strong and the Klickitat native, Chief Umtuch. Although the skirmish was settled peacefully, the area where the battle was to be fought became known as, “Strong’s Battle Ground.” True to the outdoor spirit of the Northwest, Battle Ground is close to plenty of forested areas, lakes and parks. Three miles north, Battle Ground Lake State Park is a 275-acre public recreation area centered around a crater lake of volcanic origin. Neighboring Lewisville Park is a 154-acre regional park located on the East Fork Lewis River. The park’s miles of connected nature trails, ball fields and family picnic areas, provide park-goers respite from their busy lives. Battle Ground is also located in the heart of the Clark County wine country, one of the fastest growing wine areas in the region. Here you can experience award- winning wines from Dolio, Rusty Grape, Heissen House and Bethany Vineyards. Come experience Battle Ground Village, with its community library, numerous restaurants, shops and boutiques. Care to stay a bit longer? Battle Ground Village also provides single-family residential home neighborhoods, with apartment and townhome living options, all with convenient access to services.
